Writing a book - Analogy 1

Old MacAuthor had a farm, E-I-E-I-O
And on that farm he had a book, E-I-E-I-O
with a NANO here, and a NANO there,
here a NANO, there a NANO, everywhere a NANO, NANO...

Wait, now I sound like Mork from Ork! Ha!

But seriously! How many Nanos are going on right now? Bunowrimo, Junowrimo, Camp Nanowrimo...? June is crazy with new novel writing!

It's like spring is in the air! And love is all around. Love of a new, shiny idea for a book. Just like a fresh romance, writing down magical words and developing characters and backgrounds and worlds can be so exciting! Ah those first dates! Even when you finish that first draft and begin editing your words, and seeing your mistakes, letting your guard down that changes need to be made, it gets difficult and trying at times, but you stick with it, take the time, put forth the effort - if you want the relationship to last. I love my book so I will persevere!

Breakthrough: The Adventures of Chase Manhattan (The Breakthrough Trilogy)
get it here!
Hope you all are doing well with the new novel writing or whatever phase of the relationship you are in! I am still looking for that spark of a connection to choose which book I'm going to dive into in August. I'd love to hear about your new beau, or current love - what are you working on?

And PS! Here's the BREAKTHROUGH BUZZ!

Author Stephen Tremp  is making his super exciting book, BREAKTHROUGH available to download for free Monday and Tuesday, June 18 – 19th. For these two days, anyone and everyone can go to Amazon and download a copy of Breakthrough for no charge!
(I already bought mine!)

  1. Sweet news about Breakthrough!

I have to admit I'm a little jealous of the JuNo,BuNo, CampWriMo writers out there. I would love to be writing something new, but I'm sticking with my revision of my WIP - now called Champion in the Darkness (used to be The Crystal Sword), which is about Clara, a troubled, but amazing young swordswoman who needs to keep hold of her faith to survive (and hopefully defeat) the darkness that overwhelms her nation. And just writing that little blurb got me excited about my project again . . yay! All those other crazy ideas for stories just need to rest until I've got Clara's novel polished up.

  6. I think that's the wrong motivation for me. I'm pretty sure if someone said...write...I would curse at them.
    :)

    Have a great weekend!

  8. I've become so consumed with getting the first draft of NEVERLOVE done and starting revisions soon for MINGLED and getting some critting done for a few authors of interest that I haven't really had a chance to check out all the different -WriMos.

About that analogy, unlike the first date with that guy and his mistakes and yadda, yadda, well...I can just handle the book soooo much better lol!!!

  9. Sadly, I haven't written anything new in a while. I've just been working on revising some poetry and rethinking my collection of short stories. I hope to start on my YA novel idea soon, if I can ever find the time.

  11. Yeah, I wish I was participating in the Nanos right now, but June is just too busy for me.

I am seriously considering doing NaNoWriMo this fall, though. As in, I'm really really tempted.

  14. I was building up for NanoWriMo...but hey, I have a current beau who needs my full attention! Time is hard enough to find so suddenly doing something else wouldn't help!!

Currently writing a first effort based on my Great Grandad's diary from Ypres in WWI. Currently posting excerpts on my blog: http://pinpoint77.blogspot.co.uk.

Congratulations L.G. Smith on your two year anniversary - Tin Soldiers and I are only just celebrating one year!!

  18. I've been wondering about these Wrimo thinggies... Nano, Juno, Buno, Campo... are there any more waiting to "pop out of the woodwork" at odd times? Are they related? Siblings? Cousins?

  23. Hey Tara! I've done the NaNo but I'm like the BuNo better. Smaller by a gazillion and friendly - but you know that! I'm so enjoying diving into a completely fresh new book after nearly a year and a half revising. Oh, I still have revising left - I finished working on one but I have a couple more that need the editing pencil. Ah well, I NEEDED to be able to just relax with a bunch of folks I've never met before - and I'm having a gas. Yep, spring romances are sweet.

  24. Man, I haven't recovered from the November NaNo yet, LOL! I love it though. And gooooo Stephen! I need to go grab that! :D

I'm working on edits. Edits, edits, edits. I'm hoping that sometime soon, though, I'll get to work on WIP again! I'm kind of in love with it, and was so sad I had to put it on pause!
