winter is on the outs

Hope my friends in the Northeast made it through the big blizzard! I remember camping out in our basement by the pot belly stove for a blizzard in the 70s! I was born in Plymouth, MA and loved all that snow as a kid.

Well, Winter is almost over and usually I say good riddance, bring on the Spring! But today I am seeing the bright side of Winter...

Top 10 Winter Cheers!

10.  Sweater weather - I like cardigans. I wish could wear a pretty pullover sweater, but I tend to overheat, so I dress in layers. And I can't stand static!
9.   Watching snowball fights
8.   Basketball, baby! (my boys and college)
7.   Fun socks and cozy slippers
6.   Seeing your breath
5.   Icicles!
4.   Warm beverages =P
3.   Bunny and other critter tracks
2.   Snowflakes!
And the number 1 reason I like winter,
1.   Not shaving =)

Since it's Monday, I will leave you with just a few notes and notices...

You might have heard that Alex is revealing his CassaStorm cover on Feb 22 AND announced his blogfest details - March 18th we will share our top ten favorite movies. This will be tough with so many great ones!

I've seen a bunch of mushy, gushy, romancy blog hops I'm sure some of you sweethearts are participating in, but those aren't for me. I'll sit back and enjoy some chocolate <3

Some great college basketball moments this weekend - incredible buzzer beater, quintuplet overtime, and upsets! Our home courts were pretty intense too. Only a few games left...hope I can take it!

    My family sent me some pics of the blizzard and, while all that snow was pretty, it was an excellent reminder of how much I do not like the cold.

    Yesterday, I put on shorts and a t-shirt and went for a walk on the beach. :)

    I grew up in michigan and really miss the snow. I love it! Love college basketball and the MSU Spartans!

    My favorite part of winter is the hats and the sweaters.

    And as I keep forgetting that Valentine's Day is actually happening this week, I don't think I have any plans.

    I love basketball but my Buckeyes were so terrible yesterday that I almost gave up on the sport LOL. I'm looking forward to March Madness, always such fun.

    I also love sweater weather! That is really the only thing I enjoy about winter - I feel totally self conscious in summer clothes because I'm so fair-skinned, so I love bundling up in sweaters and jeans!

    Ugh. Hate winter. I've been in the NorthEast too long. We had over a foot of snow followed by an ice storm last night. Everyone is fine and it's already melting but I'm just tired of being cold.

    I'm not much for basketball except when my brother can get us into a Rutgers game. Those are fun. I guess any live sport is usually better.

    For a romance writer I'm so anti-valentines day its silly. I just think its too much hype. I'm with you. I'll just eat some chocolate!

    I used to like winter when I was a kid but no more. I am a summer girl and would be perfectly happy to run around in shorts and bare feet all year long. As for the big snow (31" according to the reports for Maine), I finally got plowed out yesterday evening. I was stuck at home for TWO WHOLE DAYS!

    On the other hand, my dog LOVES to play find the tennis ball in the snow. It's the only game he'll play for hours, happily, and I have to admit it's pretty fun to watch him :)

    Oh, and along with not shaving, is not painting my toe nails-- no open-toed shoes in the forecast. Bring on the snow, I say!

    I'm not a basketball fan, but I do get excited when March Madness rolls around. College basketball is much more exciting than the pros.

    Not shaving is a great aspect of Winter. It's so nice to have your very own fur coat, particularly when you would never wear anyone else's fur. I also love hot cocoa.

    Hi Tara .. I'd like to get back to appreciating the dark and chill of winter - we used to do .. with a real fire, and a good tea .. perhaps with a homemade cake, or a buttery crumpet or two ... next year - I'll make that effort.

    I'm so looking forward to warmer weather and Spring .. but there's so much happening in the blogosphere ..

    Ok, I guess this isn't a real answer, but true - my favorite part of winter is leaving it and traveling to summer in the other hemisphere. For my sporty kids, it's skiing and snowboarding.

    I've lived in the NE and in western mountains and loved the snow. But here in Texas we don't get much, and I'm loving the mild winter.

    We got about 10 inches here this last weekend, and it was fun to get out and hike around in it. Now...it can melt and bring on spring. :)

    haha! Love the number 1. Winter does have its ups. I also like snowboarding. But the cold mornings getting out of bed to go to work I could do without!

    You would not believe the swear words coming out of my relatives' mouths after the Louisville/Notre Dame game :D

    We don't get much snow here so I don't get to enjoy that so much. I pretty much live in my sweatshirts though during the fall/winter. When spring comes I'll have nothing to wear!

    Snow is great if it's in moderation! We had enough last week to build a snowman, but it only lasted a day. That's pretty perfect. :)

    I love winter up until NOW.... Starting to get over the charm. BUT, what i love about winter...


    Of course, the lacy diamond dust glistening on the trees and buildings.

    A CRACKLING fire.

    LOVE Sweaters and boots.... Hats and scarves.

    Canadian geese nestled in the powdery snow.

    Ducks sliding on the pond.

    Drinking hot coffee in Starbucks in front of the fire.
