I is for Invitations
If someone forgets to invite a man,
He or she can still be his friend.
Idiosyncrasies is a great i word. Love the idea of iridescent mountains.
ReplyDeleteCharacters need quirks!
ReplyDeleteLOL thanks for this. I agree that quirks make them unique and a far more entertaining read. I have to confess when I saw "Inconceivable!" I thought you were going to talk about The Princess Bride.
ReplyDeleteEvery character does need idiosyncrasies. They're not realistic if they don't have them. I love your iridescent mountains!
ReplyDeleteIt's those quirks that make the character interesting and captures the readers.

I love idiosyncracies (even if I can't spell it!) Dixie Browning was the best at giving her characters lovable quirks...one of the reasons I love her!
ReplyDeleteMy husband considers the lack of an invite a good thing. He'll like you better if you don't invite him to things.
That is if he's not inconsiderate, lol! Thanks!

ReplyDeleteIdiosyncrasies are great for adding to characters. We all have them.

'Inconceivable - You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.'
Love the map. I know it says 'early sketch', but it looks much nicer than what I use for maps. I shall learn from your fine example!
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely important for characters to have idiosyncrasies. In my early days of being a serious writer 20+ years ago, my characters were essentially indistinguishable, no real characteristics making any of them particularly different or original.
ReplyDeleteNice. Are the mountains really iridescent? Like translucent iridescent or just shimmer? Oh, that gets my imagination humming.
ReplyDeleteI like where the dragons live. Forgetting to invite someone is a big no-no.
ReplyDeleteI'm with everyone else on this--love me some quirky characters!!
ReplyDeleteI love your take on the A to Z challenge :)
ReplyDeleteI love the word iridescent! It just has a certain ring!

ReplyDeleteCharacters certainly need quirks because people have them, and characters should feel as real as possible. :)

ReplyDeleteI don't think guys think twice about invitations!
ReplyDeleteIdiosyncrasy is a great word. And I agree, characters need at least one. Your Iridescent Mountains sound beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHi Tara .. I love the idea of iridescent mountains .. I think I saw those in Ireland many moons ago - the rhododendrons were out and the haze was magnificent with redolent bluey-purple- rose .. wonderful ..
ReplyDeleteThe maps, illustrations are such fun to see .. very clever ..
Cheers Hilary
I think developing a character's quirks is one of the fun parts of writing.
