After DESTRUCTION, a CHAMPION rises

I've got some stuff to celebrate!
Join Vikki's weekly celebration hop if you do, too.

  • finished the a to z challenge and made some great new connections and learned and saw lots of new things!
  • had an awesome cover reveal! thanks for all the support!
  • my little guy did a great job in his play as Benjamin Franklin =)

Now for some DESTRUCTION!

I am happy to host Sharon Bayliss for a fun interview during her blog tour for her new release, DESTRUCTION - A dark wizard family drama. Join us for a spell.

So, Sharon, if you could choose, what would be your magical method of flight?
-wings -telekinesis or powers -a spell -a magical creature -a magical vehicle -other

Telekinesis or powers. I would want to be able to fly anytime I wanted without having to depend on something else. And, wings sound like a lot of trouble when you're not flying. :)

I think that would be my choice, too. Now where would you go, (what sites would you see from the air)

It might be fun to fly through Manhattan like a true superhero. Or, I might want to fly over the Grand Canyon, and visit a few other national parks. And, of course I'd fly to Hogwarts!

Of course! I need to visit Universal and see what they have done with it... Speaking of wizards, Who is your fave wizard from Destruction? and why? (and no saying, its like picking a fave child!)

Emmy is my favorite. She's absolutely infuriating as a person, but for a writer, she's perfection. She is a highly active character. She's brave and heroic. And she is a little conflict machine. She gets a lot more page time in book 2 for this reason.

Those demanding characters require more scenes!
Why don,t you tell everyone about the meaning behind your cover (i like the symbolism).

Why, yes, I'd be happy to. The butterfly symbolizes beauty, hope, re-birth, and change. I place the butterfly among broken glass to show beauty in destruction and darkness. I also asked for the word "Destruction" to be "pretty". I liked the contrast of making a dark and violent concept look beautiful, just as I want to show the beauty in my dark characters.

And last question, random silliness, what was your first pet's name and what is your fave celebrity's last name, this will be your future great grandchild! (or just a great character name!)

He-Ra Timberlake (I named my first cat She-Ra, but found out it was a boy, so I changed it. ;) )

That's great! We need more Timberlakes =)
I hope you enjoyed our interview. Sharon is an awesome, supportive author and a talented writer, too! Here's her info and more about DESTRUCTION.

Introducing a new dark wizard family drama, Destruction by Sharon Bayliss, Book One in The December People Series.

David Vandergraff wants to be a good man. He goes to church every Sunday, keeps his lawn trim and green, and loves his wife and kids more than anything. Unfortunately, being a dark wizard isn't a choice.

Eleven years ago, David's secret second family went missing. When his two lost children are finally found, he learns they suffered years of unthinkable abuse. Ready to make things right, David brings the kids home even though it could mean losing the wife he can’t imagine living without.

Keeping his life together becomes harder when the new children claim to be dark wizards. David believes they use this fantasy to cope with their trauma. Until, David's wife admits a secret of her own—she is a dark wizard too, as is David, and all of their children.

Now, David must parent two hurting children from a dark world he doesn’t understand and keep his family from falling apart. All while dealing with the realization that everyone he loves, including himself, may be evil.

The Author

Sharon Bayliss is the author of The December People Series and The Charge. When she’s not writing, she enjoys living happily-ever-after with her husband and two young sons. And I wanted to give Tyrean's cover for CHAMPION IN FLIGHT a spotlight, too! Feast your eyes!

A year after she won the battle for Septily, Clara feels trapped in Skycliff by the Allied Council. As the last pieces of information about the Healing Caves fall into place, Clara is attacked by an assassin. Covert Drinaii mercenaries and the Council aren’t going to stop Clara from her quest to heal her broken blade. As Champion of Aramatir, she must act.

Meanwhile, in the joint kingdoms of Rrysorria and Wylandria, the youngest and still cursed swan prince despairs of ever being whole again. In a moment of anger and desperation, Liam discovers a blood link between him and a dark sorceress.

Clara won the battle for Septily, but her battle isn’t over.

CHAMPION IN FLIGHT is the second book in The Champion Trilogy.

  2. He-Ra! Love that name. Although you could've left it at She-Ra. My Calvin & Hobbes were both girls.

  5. I have always thought flying would be great, though I suspect I would look more like The Greatest American Hero than Superman. Bah...

  6. That's an awesome premise for DESTRUCTION. I haven't seen too many dark wizardry books written from the POV of a contemporary adult male with a family.

He-Ra Timberlake. Snort. Your poor grandchild.

  15. I always choose flying when someone asks what special power I'd like to have. Being a butterfly while flying would be the best.

Good luck to both Sharon and Tyrean.
