and
POP TRAVEL by me - happy book bday!
TODAY, I'm also talking with
This stony-faced, tough guy wrote a sweet review!
and asked some great interview questions to boot!
I hope you'll check him out!
If you have time, I think you'll enjoy them both! Two totally unique perspectives!
Now, for this month's IWSG, I'd like to address the subject of response...
apparently this is Portland Headlight! thanks, MJ! |
My question to you all:
- How do you like your responses? (or how do you respond to others?)
- In the comments?
- As an email?
- or a comment back on your blog?
I really appreciate the support and encouragement and - oh, yeah! the entries in my June Giveaway! Here are the winners! (I put them in the order of the prizes they got). Thanks for the boo-coos of entries!

I usually respond by visiting commenters' blogs, because I often forget to check back for responses to my own comments on others' blogs.
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a great blog tour! :)
I tend to respond to comments on my blog, and I usually - depending on time constraints and other factors - go back and check blogs where I left comments.
ReplyDeleteMadeline @ The Shellshank Redemption
Tara I hardly ever go back to see the response after I've commented either. My memory is not good enough to do that lol there's just no way. I always respond by visiting the person's blog. Reciprocity goes a long way in the blog world!
ReplyDeleteI do respond to comments unless terribly busy. I just bought both books. Pop Travel and Past Due for 99 cents is a great deal!! Vacation at the beach in 2 weeks and I plan on doing some reading.
ReplyDeleteHey, welcome to my world! It's hard to keep up with all the comments.
ReplyDeleteI respond to comments on my own post in batches and try to visit everyone's blog who left a comment. Like you though, I rarely go back to see a response unless I asked a question.
I answer all comments at my place and then return the comment at their place too.
ReplyDeleteI always respond on the visitor's blog, that way I am sure they will see it.
ReplyDeleteI totally understand where you're coming from. I like to respond in the comments section but, sometimes, if I don't have a lot of time and someone asks a question, I'll respond by email.
ReplyDeleteI know things are tight for a lot of people, timewise, so I never really expect responses to my comments.
I try really hard to visit everyone who comments on my posts. :) Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteI try to email respond now. Although I'll still reply in the comments sometimes too. Especially if someone asks a question, because I don't want the other commenters to think I'm a total jerk who ignored the other person's question. Lol. And now I sound crazy.
ReplyDeleteI respond most of the time like you do. I always visit people who visit me so I get a chance to respond there.
ReplyDeleteWhen I leave a comment, I sign up for follow-up comments IF I asked a question or expect some sort of reply.
ReplyDeleteI respond a bit of both ways. Sometimes the comment needs a private message back, so that's when I email.
ReplyDeleteWhen someone comments on my blog, I respond on my blog and I visit my commenter's blog and leave a comment there.
ReplyDeleteThe reason do both:
I leave a response on my blog for my blog readers so if they read comments they see that I read comments, too, and see interaction.
I respond on my commenters' blogs for lots of reasons - to let them know I appreciate their reading my blog, to build rapport, to meet other bloggers, and more.
Every once in a while I email - if I have something extra or whatever.
I reply in the comment section. I used to do it for all comments . . . but time is slipping away more these days. I figured if someone asked a question they would check back for the answer. I hope that's right lol
ReplyDeleteI struggle with keeping up too. I know that if I don't have "enough" time I go to the blogger's site and comment there, because that's what I prefer usually. :)
ReplyDeleteHere from Alex's page. Love your blog and am now a follower. The Goblin book looks interesting too. When is it due to be published? I'd like to check it out.
ReplyDeleteI prefer either a response in comments, or a return visit. I've pretty much stopped regularly visiting and commenting by blogs when the bloggers never returned the favor, not even once every few months.
ReplyDeleteYeah, in general, once I've commented on something, I'm gone. Though I do often reply to comments through email. but I can't do that when people comment with no-reply on :-(
ReplyDeleteI like to have people visit my blog and leave a comment, and I always try to visit those who have. I think it's a good philosophy to always return the favor.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way . . . even though I do try to comment back on my own blog incase they come back, I think visiting other people's blogs in return is the best:-)
ReplyDeleteI tried going the email comment direction, and I got overwhelmed. I think if you only average about 10 to 20 comments a post that's doable, but when you run 50+ comments per post, it can become a full time job--one I wish I had time to complete. I comment in blog and return visits. *shrugs* We do the best we can, right? (Oh, and isn't Bruce awesome?)
ReplyDeleteIf someone asks a question that needs answering, I'll email. My blog gets the email addresses, though, so it's easy.
ReplyDeleteMostly, I return visits on blogs.
I visit blogs and respond to comments. I try to add a few new ones each time, but it depends on how much time I have and how much I have to do. Time management is an area I am trying to work on.

I respond--sometimes to a group but mentioning everyone by name. Usually I don't go back after leaving a comment, but I love reading the comments & responses on everyone's post.
ReplyDeleteI respond to a few on my site and try to comment on that person's site. I never return though. Only someone who gets a really tiny amount of comments has time to do that.
ReplyDeleteI've been responding to everyone lately, but it is a huge time sink. It's hard to know what's right. Some people to return to look. Not everyone of course. I also visit commenters' blogs too.
ReplyDeleteIf I'm commenting I click the 'notify me' button to see follow up comments. If I'm responding it depends, if there's just a few comments (which is the norm for my blog!) then I reply individually, but during the A-Z a few times I did do the group response as otherwise it would have taken forever! I still try and visit back at some point, but at least I feel I have let the person know I have read what they had to say......... Off to click on the Email follow up comments lol! ....

I respond to comments on my blog and try to visit those who left comments, but I don't always get there right away. Sometimes it takes me a few days.
ReplyDeleteHi Tara! I'm visiting from the IWSG. Interesting question you pose. As a relatively new blogger with less than 100 followers, I do the best I can to respond to each person's comment, and then I go visit each of their blogs. Sometimes it feels overwhelming, but I keep plugging away, because I really appreciate comments and I want to return the favor.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your Pop Travel birthday. As for comments, I try to reply on my blog and comment back. I am doing Camp NaNoWriMo this month and struggling for time.
ReplyDeleteMy computer troubles have put me behind. But when they're over I'll be on top again. For now I just do my best. Congrats on Pop Travel's birthday and your latest book. Another giveaway?! Oh Tara you spoil us!
ReplyDeleteI almost always reply to someone who commented on my blog. What I'm not so good at is checking back to other blogs where I wrote a comment. I'm beginning to rethink how thin I'm spreading myself in the marketing schemes; like a shotgun approach trying to make a connection everywhere. Perhaps I need to just select a few really good blogs, etc and focus on making REAL connections.
