And now for some Book Event GOODIES - and not just the GARDEN variety kind!

GOALS
You will know if you are ready for a book event when you think about your GOALS as a writer. Ask yourself some serious questions...

  1. Is this writing GIG just for fun or do you want to make a little (very little!) money?
  2. GETTING published is only half the GIGANTIC mountain. Promotion is GOOGLES harder than writing the book and querying combined! How bad do you want others to read your novel?
  3. What's your GOAL? To see your novel on bookstore shelves? To be a best-seller for a few days on an Amazon list? or World-wide recognition? How about a movie!?
The only way to accomplish any of these things is to put yourself out there. My favorite example is my friend Julie Flanders. She's a librarian and was very apprehensive about doing book events. Now that she's done a few, she's really come out of her cocoon and blossomed into a GORGEOUS butterfly. She's so social and energetic! I love doing events with her - she's GOT it GOOD!

  5. My ultimate dream goal is to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, but being remembered as a writer for all time, like Shakespeare, is a good-enough consolation prize.

  9. G(ee),that was a great "G" post :)

I think having a small, attainable, goal is a great first step in figuring out where your writing journey should head towards.

  10. I think a lot of writers who started out when I did thought only of having their books on the shelves in their local stores. Now, it doesn't matter so much. Online is the place to make book sales.

  12. Ha, I'm definitely not writing to make money. I just want people to enjoy what I write. And I want to enjoy reading it myself, too! ;)
