Day Eight: Job #30DaysofGratitude

I believe hard work pays off.

My dream job was to be a teacher. After college, can you believe I couldn't get a job? It was depressing. So I know how kids feel who leave college in debt without finding work in their chosen profession.

But I didn't let that stop me. I worked up to five jobs at once so I could live on my own, where I wanted to be, and I enjoyed life. I experienced amazing things, met awesome people, and went places I might never have gone if I'd followed my little plan out of college. And as a sub, I touched more lives than if I'd stayed in one place. And then I became a WRITER! A complete surprise to me!

I can't imagine my life without writing. And I finally came full circle, teaching full time and loving it--even in this crazy time we live in.

I appreciate the freedom to choose my job, the opportunity to do it, and the experiences I've had along the way.

  1. Hi Tara - excellent you were able to achieve your goal ... and then adapt it to suit you and the family. Love the card - just great to see ... congratulations on ensuring you achieved including the books ... I managed three jobs, but not five!! Have a peaceful day today - Hilary

  2. We can't take those freedoms for granted. And yes, I voted two weeks ago.

  3. Teaching was my longest paid job. It could be fun or a nightmare. While subbing once, I had a nightmare. It could've been worse. I prefer to remember the good times.

Yes, I voted about a month ago. Walked the ballot into the township office because I wouldn't be certain the USPS could be trusted to get it there on time. As Alex said, I don't take my freedom for granted.
