Spark Gets Charged

It's Day 3 of the *Spark* Blogfest! And today I am taking a tangent to talk about poetry sparks.

As with writing, poetry wasn't my thing growing up - figuring out imagery in novels was hard enough! But recently I've changed my perspective. I saw poetry as a way to express a lot in a small amount of words - efficiency! And I love formulas and functions (math junkie) so poetic forms were perfect for me. I also like to be a nonconformist sometimes, free verse! Thus I have to thank the blog world prompts and poetic challenges for sparking me, DARING me to write poetry! Now I love it!

And so I give you this week's Sensational Haiku Wednesday, theme: Weary

Weary of weeping
Unexpected tragedies
Reflect, remorse, loss

Weary of worry
Frustration at no control
Can't prevent it all

Lift each other up
Overcome the weariness
Pray for strength and peace

And by the way - I know you have a good appetizer or dessert recipe! Please come to my BLOGAVERSARY PARTY and share it! Let's mingle!

  2. Ooo...I like the poetry tangent. I can see where poetry can help with ways to express a lot in a few words. It's one reason I write flash fiction. Although I must admit my poetry attempts are pretty terrible. *laughs* I like your haiku, though. :) Very inspirational.

  15. You know what your poem makes me think of? Writing and the writing community. We writers can become "weary of weeping" and so forth, and what does the community do? We "lift each other up!"

    Nicely done!
