I don't like it being on a Wednesday. I almost forgot to carve the pumpkins! Had to do last minute preps on the costumes, running to the store, finding the candy I hid a month ago, and why does it have to rain/snow this year! Ah well. It's also a full moon, or close - ooooo! That's why I'm cranky. Yeah, let's blame the moon.
At least I have Sensational Haiku Wednesday to look forward to...
Spooky!
What's that tingling
up your arm? Jump and brush off
Hope not a spider
Did you see movement
From the corner of your eye?
But aren't you alone?
The house creaks and cracks
Louder late at night, can't sleep
It's unsettling
And to send off you nano-ers right, here are my top ten excuses reasons I'm NOT doing NANO this year...
- I just did Camp Nano!
- Which means I have editing to do...
- November 1st is shot because I'll be coming down from Halloween candy sugar buzz!
- Not to mention November is already a short month
- Thanksgiving takes up at least 4 days with travel and relatives!
- Which also leaves my brain mushy from food overload and kids off school...
- And HELLO! Xmas shopping needs to be done at some point!
- Crazy chaos and quirky relatives always spark shiny new ideas too!
- Someone usually gets sick this month too...
- And lastly, it's my bday month! Can't stress about making the 2000 word count on my bday!
So good luck in your writing, best wishes for meeting your goals, and I hope to hear about your progress and results!
Those are all very valid reasons. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe NaNo starts tomorrow already! I'm prepared though, and I'm itching to start writing my new novel with thousands of other crazy writers like me!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you and your family have a spooktacular day. Happy Halloween!!!
Since I'm not doing NaNo either, we can cheer everyone else on together. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd Christmas shopping? Really? Yikes!
#3 cracked me up. :D
ReplyDeleteNovember is my birthday month, too. I'm now going to use that as my excuse why I'm not participating.
I wonder if anyone will cheat and start their projects today.
We've got tons of snow to contend with for tonight. At first, the temperature was supposed to be above freezing for today, but now it won't be. :(
I still have to carve the pumpkin. Good thing the kids got a small one.
Those are very good reasons! At least we don't have Thanksgiving in the UK. I can never write anything with stuff like that going on! Great poem too.
ReplyDelete'If it ain't fun ~ don't do it'! that's my motto ~ Your haiku are excellent ~ ...house creaks and cracks ~ very descriptive and visual for the 'season' haiku (A Creative Harbor) ^_^

ReplyDeleteAll valid reasons!!! I am trying to edit and write . . .but I have a tendency to do that anyway, so NaNo just brings a crazed push to all my normal crazy writing habits.
ReplyDeleteLove your haiku, and Happy Birthday early!!!
Love the Haiku. I'm going to do the NaNoWriMo behind the scenes so if I fail--nobody will know I failed. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's my BDay month too! Happy soon to be Birthday!
ReplyDeletethose are all perfectly reasonable reasons not to do nano. I'm not doing it either but that doesn't mean I won't be writing!
ReplyDeleteSpooky haiku. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteVery good excuses, er, reasons not to do NaNo.
ReplyDeleteI do love your haiku(s).
BTW, can I ask where you get the animated characters you use in your banners? They're so creative and fun:)
I support all of those reasons :P
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween!
Very spooky haiku...great reasons...I never notice that November is a short month until you mentioned it ...BRILLIANT. Mine is here
ReplyDeleteand here
Have you a BLESSED WEEK!!!
hugs
shakira
Sorry you're not doing Nano but you do have your plate filled with family, writing and other stuff so... Cool haikus by the way.
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteNot doing NaNo either because I am editing and I already did BuNo in June.
I'm not doing Nano, but I did consider it the last two years. I began books both years in November, but knew I'd never have them done nearly in time. I'm also not a word-counting type of person, and would never deliberately plan a book at a certain length. I've had books that ended up around 50,000 words or shorter, but not out of a plan or schedule.
ReplyDeleteI have all those same excuses, except for the camp NaNo one. The only thing that keeps me going is the energy from everyone else. Side note, I just got a full request from curiosity quills and I was wondering what you like about them. E-mail me and we'll chat author.jabennett @ gmail.com
ReplyDeleteThose are awesome reasons and great haikus! Have a happy Halloween! Man, it's been a busy day for me too. I need a nap but too much to do.
ReplyDeleteHi Tara .. can quite understand your list of to dos ... Nano is quite daunting ..
ReplyDeleteWell - I shall await your birthday and celebrate with you .. lots to do in November as you allude to - at least we don't have Thanksgiving first .. Perhaps that is something that will become part of our celebrations over here ..
Cheers Hilary

ReplyDeleteGood luck with NaNo!
I LOVE your *reasons* Tara. Since my birthday is this month too, I'm going to steal your excuse...er, reason.
ReplyDeleteYour greeting rocks too. As a J person Jolly Jack-O-Lantern day sounds much better.
Loved your spidery, spooky haikus.
ReplyDeleteI have only one phobia, and it is NOT spiders. In fact, I love watching them create their webs. They can be quite beautiful.
Thanks for stopping by to read my haiku.
Fun haiku!
