Nanowrimo is underway. Hope you all are off to a good start and meeting your goals so far! I am not doing Nano this year, but I am still writing - more specifically editing, which goes on and on and on...
Last year several of us in that Revision phase got together thanks to Peggy Eddleman, and formed NANOREVMO or REVIMO. And thanks to Jenny Morris, we are doing it again this year! Now we are new and improved with a Facebook Page!! Thanks to Jessie! A few of us made badges, of course, and there are also drawings for prizes for meeting weekly goals! We are all so gung ho about it! Email me or one of the above mentioned if you are interested in joining us for REVIMO!
During this first week, we are listing our goals (very informal, though I do like NANOWRIMO's fancy charts!)
My WIP is approximately 230 pages, so that means I should revise at least 7-8 pages a day and this is perfect timing since my fabulous crit partner just gave me some much needed feedback and suggestions. I also have a new MS I want to get started on but I want to finish the rough draft first and I'm only halfway through it...So here are my daily goals:
- 10 pages of editing and/or
- 500 words of new MS
- not to mention, working on Pop Travel stuff
So tell me what you are up to. I'd love to hear blurbs about your new NANO novels (WRIMO or REVIMO)! Whatever you're doing, keep writing and have a great weekend!
LOOKING FORWARD TO READING THANK YOUS NEXT WEEK!
"I'm Thankful For..." blog hop starts Monday!
The revision group is a cool idea. And seven to eight pages might not sound like much, but as that is what I am doing right now as well, I know it's a lot!
ReplyDeleteI'm not doing NaNo, but I am writing. Your plan sounds like a steady amount of work and attainable.
ReplyDeleteGo NaNoReviMo! Not only is it a great support and catalyst to get my writing butt in gear, but I get to meet great people and read new blogs like yours.
ReplyDeleteI'm not doing NaNo because I wanted to finish editing my current draft first and I haven't had time to plan a new project. But I can't join your fun because I'll be finished with this round of edits by next weekend (hopefully). After that, my wip takes a vacation while I plan my next project. So November is more like a mish-mash month for me. I don't fit in anywhere. :(
ReplyDeleteThe revision group is a fantastic idea. I really should've done that instead of NaNoWriMo.
ReplyDeleteTechnically, I'm ahead of schedule in NaNo, but looking at my buddies' word counts, I still the slacker of the group. Guess that means all's right with the world.
Happy Revising!
I'm not doing Nano, I'm working on revisions, too. I want to join the group! Maybe. . .I've never done anything like that before. I'm not great at being social. . .
ReplyDeleteNo NaNoing for me this year. Going to rest up a bit and get ready to tacking things again in December. But I will be blogging and reading blogs. Time to catch up on all the blogging I've missed.
ReplyDeleteAnd your goal is both commendable and doable. Cheering you on from the sidelines. Go! NaNoReviMo! Go!
Can I be crazy and join ReViMo while I'm also NaNoWriMoing?
ReplyDeleteI'm doing both anyway - even if, well, it's kind of certifiable.
NaNo Blurb: Doug Cranton, kicked out of the Allied Space Naval Academy, doesn't want to go home in shame to his family that has served in the Allied Space Navy for multiple generations. Instead, he decides to find a job. Unfortunately, the only job he can find is with Galaxy Cruise Lines, playing the role of the pirate, Captain Wrath, on one of their themed cruises. He hates the job, hates the wig, but soon discovers that the job is only a front for something else . . .a job that only Doug can do.
Great goals!! My MS is about the same amount of pages so it's nice to break it down like that. ;)
ReplyDeleteViva La REVIMO!
It's good to revise and I'm excited any time I hear anything about Pop Travel. Wrote nearly 2000 words for Nano yesterday.
ReplyDeleteThose are fantastic goals. Good luck! I had a good first day with NaNoWriMo yesterday, so I took an hour last night to do some revising on my completed first draft of another WIP. It took nearly an hour to revise one page. I think it's significantly better, but I was shocked it took so long!
ReplyDeleteI'm not doing Nano, but I am revising. I like the idea of 7-8 pages a day.
ReplyDeleteYay! I just joined. I'll post my goals on Monday. I wrote 50K during BuNoWriMo in June - the second novel in my series. This was such a brilliant idea.
ReplyDeleteLove the Revimo idea! I'm in waiting-on-my-editor phaze, so I won't be diving into much writingwise until I get those notes back. :/
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to Monday's hop!
The revision group sounds like a great idea. I just finishes a final revision (my agent thinks), so for the first time I'm participating in NaNoWriMo to get a first draft out of the sequel. Maybe next year I'll be doing NaNoRevMo.
ReplyDeleteI'm supposed to be doing Nano, but I'm already two days behind. I'm hoping to get all my stuff done this weekend so I can get started on it Monday.
ReplyDeleteGood luck reaching all your goals!!
And, I left you an award on my blog. :)
no nano but I'm plenty busy with revisions not to mention a new toy I'm eager to play with :)
ReplyDeleteThose are some fantastic goals! I wish you all the best with your revisions and drafting. No NaNo for me; I am writing though. :)
ReplyDeleteI think this is a fab plan, good luck!
ReplyDeleteI have a WIP I'm working n so word count is not as important as finishing the draft at 250 pages and sending it off to my editor for the initial read through.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you!
I'm working on edits for my second book. Very grueling. I'm encouraged that I'm not alone! :) GOOD LUCK!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to, but I will be too tied up in several other things, and thus can't participate in Nano :-( I will try to blog regularly though !!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the NaNoRevMo!
ReplyDeleteRevising can be sorta fun but it isn't, since you're adding\removing things from your story. The writing process is quite a journey.
Great goals! Hope you achieve them, Tara!
Looking forward to your blogfest. Can't wait to read all the exciting entries! Even though I didn't sign up for it, I think I may have to do something similar next week :)
What an awesome idea. This month I'll finish editing two projects and I'd like to rewrite another, which will go into December.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much you guys!
ReplyDeleteAnd anyone is welcome to join our encouraging facebook page! No matter what phase you are in! If you are trying to achieve a goal, come on over!
We may even spill over into the next few months!
