First, my cool publisher, Curiosity Quills, recently spotlighted IWSG and its supa star inceptor Alex C! Check it out!
Now on to today's topic.
For the past year or so I have only posted my fears and doubts for our group sessions (there are so many to choose from!) But this month I'd like to spread some happy around! Though sometimes I feel I might come across as too perky. So I'm going to tell you a little about me...
At home, IRL, I am usually stressed and cranky. Being a mom to teens is like being a prison guard - no respect and they try to get away with as much as possible. I hate nagging and repeating myself, not to mention cleaning up after everyone, cooking for picky eaters, and dealing with a crazy, ever changing schedule...See? Cranky stress.
Then, when my chores are done (or when I need a break from them - they're never done!) I write. My escape from the mundane. It's heaven, even if only in small increments most days. And my favorite thing about writing is you guys! Communicating with writers and readers!
So though you may feel the need to roll your eyes at all my smiley faces and exclamation points, please realize that my Pollyanna attitude is sincere! This is my happy place! =)
I hope you take some happy with you today! Where is your happy place? I know you all can relate to this positive atmosphere. It's a wonderful place to go you get stuck, seek advice, or receive yet another rejection...keep writing!
There are a couple more things I wanted to mention...
Please congratulate David P King and his 800 followers! and he's giving away blog makeovers!
Special happenings tomorrow and don't forget the fests coming up!
I leave you with my Sensational Haiku Wednesday on avarice (I had to look it up and remind myself what it meant...)
Miss Scrooge?
She hunts in pockets,
crevices, and piggy banks
No treasure is safe
There isn't enough
She needs more to satisfy
insatiable urge
Her desire is not
avarice, she needs cash for
delivery boy!
Don't ever lose your happy place, Tara!
ReplyDeleteThat haiku is awesome, Tara. Love the Christmas-y banner.
ReplyDeleteWhat??? Being a mom to teens isn't any better than being on to tweens? *rushes off to devour chocolate*
Love the new banner! I've got two teen girls and an 8 yr.old boy who are mostly awesome but some days, I want to hide in a cave with my laptop and my headphones! Stay happy :)
ReplyDeleteLove the Miss Scrooge poem! We've all been there, haha.
ReplyDeleteI like visiting your happy place and your new banner is awesome!
Visiting your happy place is my happy place! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great day, Tara!
I'm so with you on that one. Teens are a special breed. =)
ReplyDeleteI like your happy attitude, too :)
ReplyDeleteI have three teens and a 12 year old!! I'm feeling ya sister! Thank you God for words and wordsmiths!
ReplyDeleteHi Tara .. sounds a crazy life - but you keep a very cheerful lid on the cranky stress!
ReplyDeleteLove the spread of happiness .. and your Haiku - tips are important as is a smile .. cheers Hilary
Love the holiday banner and, as always, the haiku.
ReplyDeleteI'm honestly not sure where my Happy Place is... in the middle of a good book, I think.
Love your happy place and that you recreate it here! Thank you. Every time I start to grumble and feel miserable, I remind myself I GET to write. Wow!
ReplyDeleteHappy faces and exclamation marks are great. And being a mom is stressful. :)
ReplyDelete"Being a mom to teens is like being a prison guard..." I'm still laughing!
ReplyDeleteI too spam the !!! and :-D Tara. And like you, it's because I'm genuinely a high energy, positive person when it comes to my writing world. I treat it like any other job, and like we're all co-workers. And that means being as positive as I can be, all of the time. It just makes things easier for all of us.
My first month in the IWSG (officially--I'm a hot mess most days), and I'm glad to have stumbled over here. :-D
Be as perky as you want Tara. What is a blog if you don't use it to shine and help others shine too? My parents had a simple way of dealing with picky eaters. Don't want it? Go find something else to eat. Yeah...pretty much. Cingrats David on 800 folls!
ReplyDeleteAwesome banner ~ wonderful haiku and you will survive 'parenthood' to 'teens' ~ thus you will be able survive anything ~ congrats to your blog friend ~ (A Creative Harbor) ~ artmusedog and Carol ^_^
ReplyDeleteI probably use way too many emoticons, but I like to spread smiles :)
ReplyDeleteAh, teenagers. I remember when I was one. Oh wait...nineteen still counts as teenagedom.
Aww! Love the idea of going to a happy place!
ReplyDeleteLove the haiku!
Happy Scrooge = a great image! :)
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs an injection of happy every day. Love the post!
ReplyDeleteYes, we mommies of teens (19 & 14) definitely need our happy places. :)
ReplyDeleteYou had me laughing with your teenager comment! I quoted you on the Facebook page for my mommy blog. (I'm a mom of seven - one who is no longer a teen and two who are still teens as well as one who is a preteen and three still to reach their teens).
ReplyDeleteYou can get more with smile and stick than with just a stick.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the happy, we could all use a little more. (and you know, the sun will come out tomorrow... of course, I live in the desert and it rains about once a month, so the analogy breaks down for me).
I also love communicating with other writers and readers. It's great! I like the new blog header too :) How is it almost Christmas already??
ReplyDeleteAllison (Geek Banter)
Oh, wow! Thank you for the shout-out, Tara. While I'm not a dad of teens yet, I'm already feeling the wave you're riding. But, you're a rock star, so I know you'll stick the landing. And wait a second, this is news to me - you're signed with CQ? Curious, indeed. They asked me for stuff recently ... ;)
ReplyDeletegreat christmas banner and haiku. greetings from a fellow insecure writer.
ReplyDeleteThis Haiku made me giggle. I love your happy blog. Seriously, I always know I'll smile when I come over here and I'm happy to know that you get as much joy from being here as you give.
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful that the blogosphere is your happy place. It is mine too, as well as the spa and uninterrupted writing time (when I can get it).
ReplyDeleteI'd bet your teens offer lots of literary inspiration. =)
Thanks for the visit.
ReplyDeleteI like your twist on the prompt.
Cheers!

I'm all about spreading the happiness Tara! I love it! This is my happy place too! :)
ReplyDeleteThat happy place is incredibly important. Visit often. I can relate on your fear that others may not perceive your "perkiness" as sincere. I feel that some may doubt my sincerity when I dote on and profusely thank others. But that too is quite sincere. Smile on, Tara!
ReplyDeleteCute poem :-) Writing can be my happy place too. It's revision that makes my crazy *:*
ReplyDeletethanks, Alex!
