The Lazy Housewife has a purpose. Personally, I believe in God as our Father and Jesus His Son. I also believe that all people are inherently good-natured and want what's best all around, but we all have our faults. Without faith, life is random and pointless. I know I risk controversial comments talking about faith, but it's an important part of life - to me, THE most important part of life - so be it.
(Tomorrow I get down and dirty with Cleaning Tips!)
Some B TIPS:
- Breathe! When you are stressed, stop what you are doing and breathe deeply. It really calms you down.
- Believe in yourself, too. You're stronger than you think you are! And pass it on!
- Blessings - count them. There is always someone worse off than you.
Editing Tips
Began to - another passive phrase. Don't use it. Have your character just do it!
Bold - do not use bold in your MS, period. Emphasize with ALL CAPS or italics.
commonly confused "B" words:
blond (male) / blonde (female)
baited (v. teased, lured) / bated (adj. restrained or held back)
born (v. to have a child) / borne (v. to carry)

I happen to think you will never accomplish anything in this life without first believing you can do. Also, great reminders on the word confusions.
ReplyDeleteGreat advice! Just breathing and looking at things rationally helps us achieve more.
ReplyDeleteNice post, Tara.
ReplyDeleteWell said.
Good tips today. Just do it applies to characters and us!

I believe most people are good, too.
ReplyDeleteYes, faith is so important!
ReplyDeleteAmen! Life is pointless without faith, and so very empty.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the editing tips and the 'B' tips! Also, it makes me happy to see people have such a strong faith (-:
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post! Life is all about faith :)
ReplyDeleteLovely post. Great b words, both for writing and for living.
ReplyDeleteBelief and faith are important to me too, even though they rock me something fierce sometimes. Great post.
ReplyDeleteI rarely use bold in a book. When I do, I use bold italics for extra-emphasis, like bold italics when someone is extremely angry, or to indicate the name of a book or movie in another language. I think I read somewhere that you obviously need italics to indicate the name of a book or movie, and then bold additionally indicates that it's in a foreign language.
ReplyDeleteThe spelling blond has always looks wrong and unfinished to me, even if I know it can technically be correct. It's sort of like the spelling Isabel vs. Isabelle; it just looks more complete with the extra letters on the end.
Those simple tips were just what I needed to hear today. Thanks for posting!

Believing you can is actually harder than doing it. That's why the saying fake it till you make it is so true. I always worry. Do I have another story in me? Will this one really be a novel too?
ReplyDeleteAnd before I know it, the novels sitting there in a dicombobulated pile of first draft. so yeah, faith is hard.
I like those B tips - breathe, believe, blessings... like a mantra... repeat over... and over... when necessary, of course.
ReplyDeleteGreat advice, and I think faith is very important in life. If we didn't have faith, life wouldn't be worth living.
ReplyDeleteHappy B - all good advice - I always forget the 'breathe' part!
ReplyDeleteLx
Thanks for the tips and advice. Believe it! *laughs* So Naruto.
ReplyDeleteThe best advice ever given to me was that when I am stressed I should take a deep breath and drink a glass of water.
ReplyDeleteHappy A-Z'ing :)

Great post - I will try to believe in myself!
ReplyDeleteWonderful post, and I especially like the B tips. Such easy things to do. The trick is in remembering to do them.

Great post Tara. It seems that, sometimes, I look around and all I see is people trashing beliefs and it's discouraging. That's why when I see something like this, it helps to restore my faith in people a bit more.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing that :)
I believe! In everything you said :)
ReplyDeleteyet another great, useful article!
ReplyDeleteGreat tips both for the housewife and writer. I need to remind myself to breathe several times, especially today.
ReplyDeleteI agree that faith is essential. In my humble opinion, our faith guides us in good times and bad. Without it, we have no compass and wander around aimlessly.
ReplyDeleteEven the exuberant president Teddy Roosevelt said," Believe in yourself and you're half way there." That doesn't mean to be boastful, but I think a quiet confidence is necessary.
Today was my first visit to your blog and I'll be returning. Thank you for sharing.

Great post. I'll be stopping back!
ReplyDeleteI agree about the bold. It's like something even louder than shouting on the page.
ReplyDeleteThose are some great tips! Believing is very important. It's our basis in life. We have to believe in ourselves to live our dreams. :)
ReplyDeleteI like your B tips! Good luck with the challenge! I participated last year and had a blast!

Yes. I use breathing a lot...
ReplyDeleteAh! The blond/blonde thing always gives me pause, leaving me certain that I've used the wrong one. I usually just end up finding a different term. LOL
ReplyDeleteFaith is such a powerful force that can move mountains. I believe that. :D
ReplyDeleteMy faith is different than yours, but I believe we all have the rights to our views and beliefs. Nice post.
ReplyDeletebodacious comments, buddies!
ReplyDeleteoff to a beautiful start!
