If you like #Pixar 's Onward, You'll Love BROKEN BRANCH FALLS

This IWSG post is brought to you by the Taking Back Beast World Campaign - Phase 2. Stand up to your Bullies!

You may or may not know, but there's an animated film coming out next month: Onward by Disney/Pixar. Last summer one of my sons saw a sneak peek trailer and showed me because it reminded him of my Beast World series.

When I watched it unfold, my heart sank. I literally started to shake and freak out! Even more crushing, some of my fave actors are the voices. The stories are different, but the setting is the same, identical. I knew I had to do something. And the Taking Back Beast World Campaign was born.

It was a great success for little old me, pushing me to publish WINDY HOLLOW, BW #3. I shook things up, made new friends, got great new reviews, started a weekly chat, sold more books, and got noticed by Pixar (they basically said I was nobody and told me to stop bothering them...Ha!) I don't want to sue, I just want recognition!

Now on to Phase 2. The movie comes out Mar 6, and it's time to speak out again. I'm so excited to have an awesome writing community of friends backing me up. I have big ideas, but not a lot of time and money to carry it all out, so I'm doing what I can. I re-published BROKEN BRANCH FALLS and am working on CRADLE ROCK. I've organized lots of posts and interviews and reviews and social send-outs.

I may even "protest" at a theater--not a bashing Pixar protest, but a total publicity stunt. If the news caught it, that would be great! It all depends on if I can get some folks to help me. Most people don't like confrontation or attention.

My goal is to get Beast World noticed. I'm going to display the comparisons in a positive way:
That way, it's a win-win!
And here are some more comparisons for you...
  • If you liked Game of Thrones, you'll love EFFIGY by M.J. Fifield
  • If you like the Hallmark Channel, you'll love the MAGUIRE'S CORNER series by Heather M Gardner and HOOSIER DAD by Elizabeth Seckman
  • If you liked Melrose Place and Vampire Diaries, you'll love THE THIRTEENTH FLOOR series by Christine Rains
  • If you liked Battlestar Galactica, you'll love CASSASTAR by Alex J. Cavanaugh
  • If you liked The Outsiders, you'll love NOT GUILTY by C. Lee McKenzie
  • If you liked Murder, She Wrote, you'll love MURDER AT THE MARINA by Ellen Jacobsen
  • If you liked The Great Wall, you'll love DRAGONFLY WARRIOR by Jay Noel
  • If you liked American Pie, you'll love THREE DAVES by Nicki Elson
There are many more, but that's all I could think of at the moment. Share yours in the comments!

I won't give up. I'm up for the challenge. And I'm always happy to have more helpers, or just give my posts a share. We "nobody" writers have to stick together and not let the big bully mega-corps walk all over us.

Thanks for your support!

I'm back baby! Last days for #giveaway and #GOTseason6 hmm

I've had an awakening! I finally came out of my long winter slumber and participated in a book event!

Ohioana was my first and favorite book event and I look forward to it every year. I always love hanging out with author friends and meeting new awesome people. I love doing panels - you know how I love to talk.

It also felt great to interact with readers. Some even told me how much they liked my books! And I was invited to a couple of other events while I was there.
me and my buddy Terri-Lynne Smiles
I had an awesome weekend and I'm looking forward to more, sooner! I encourage everyone of you to go do a book event, or if you aren't published yet, go visit one (I did and it's worth it for the experience to see what it's all about) I just need to take more pictures!

I'd also like to say a big THANK YOU to those visiting me. I know tons of folks are participating in the A to Z Challenge. Good luck! You're in the homestretch!

And one last mention for my Jolissa giveaway contest...
a Rafflecopter giveaway

PS - Did anyone watch Game of Thrones? Do you think it's still George RR Martin caliber? I'm not so sure... I feel like they're rushing it and making things happen. Hmm.

Epic #Fantasy, Sequels, and Passwords

Week 5!

Even more THANK YOUS to my blog tour hosts from last week, MJ Fifield and Patricia Lynne!

Here's where I'm off to This Week, Oct 12 - 16:
**All my helpers will get a surprise from me and be entered in a raffle for a $20 gift card! They're so awesome! I hope you check them out.

And speaking of MJ, I FINALLY finished EFFIGY!
It took a long time because I'm a slow reader and have very little time to read. But I stuck with it because it was fabulous! I gave it 5 whole-hearted stars. And here's my review:

If you like Game of Thrones, Effigy will steal your heart. Queen Haliene is strong and determined, even when her perfect life is ripped away and she's sent to a living hell in an arranged marriage to a despicable devil. She carries on only to protect her people from him. She has more to live for when hope sneaks into her window, but more trouble too.

Effigy is composed of beautiful prose, intense drama, and gripping suspense, plus deep and passionate characters. I absolutely adored this book and cant wait for the next one! Finally a woman joins the ranks of Jordan & Martin!!

And don't forget the Rafflecopter!

Have a good week, everybody!

PS - I think I'm going to sign up for the List Blog Hop. Bish Denham came up with this fun hop to celebrate eight years of blogging. I found it at Alex J Cavanaugh's who is helping co-host. He says it’s beyond simple - and it's about lists! How can I not?

The rules are:
Sign up, grab the banner and make a list.
Keep your list to between 5 and 25 items. You can list whatever you feel like (except for adult type content.)
Post on October 26 and visit fellow participants.
That’s it!

Rated R for Radical!

Well, I took my two week break and now I'm back on my weekly posting schedule. Thanks again for all the great comments and encouragement throughout the A to Z challenge. Amazingly, some folks are still winding their way through the massive list with the ROAD TRIP! I'm on the fence for next year, but odds are that I will give in and do it again.

But today is all about the BB&C blogfest hosted by ALEX J CAVANAUGH & HEATHER M GARDNER. I know I'm not alone in talking about the best fit for this fest, the epic fantasy series...
(dun dun, dadadun dun, dadadun dun, dadadun dun...)

Everyone knows how gory and sinful it is - but it's also very captivating, surprising, and riveting. The characters and their twistiness suck you in. At first I ignored the fad, thinking everyone just wanted to gawk. But I needed something to read so I tried the first book, A SONG OF FIRE AND ICE. It was thoroughly confusing and I set it down after a few chapters. But when I watched the first episode with Tyrion Lannister and John Snow and Eddard Stark, I was hooked. Since then, I've devoured the books and have been keeping ahead of the show, always anxious to see how they will continue the convoluted stories.

This season I heard they are straying even farther from the books. Many of the shortcuts they take are to keep from introducing millions of new characters who are probably just going to die anyway, and I understand that. I just hope George keeps the show in check! Not to mention, he's gotta finish that next book!

My favorite characters are Tyrion, Jamie, Bronn, Brianne, and Arya, probably similar to most since they're about the only original characters still alive! To keep it fresh, I'm sharing some awesome mash-up pics I found that many of you may not have seen...Enjoy!

spot on

so awesome!

this is my absolute FAVE!
