It's also the first Wednesday of the month, so for my Insecure Writers Support Group entry, I'm going to see how I've done on accomplishing January's goals...

  ü  Created Facebook author page!
ü  Cut back on blogging, but my posts have grown in size…hmm (this is a perfect example)
ü  Got my Broken Branch Falls edits done and sent to CPs and already got some great feedback!
  ü  Finished reading a book
ü  Made at least 3 healthy dinners and drank a bottle of water a day +

Still in progress…
è Patience. And when you ask for patience, you get opportunities to practice it, like waiting for editing and cover samples. Waiting, always waiting (use voice of Roz from Monsters, Inc)
è Goodreads author page – will make when my book is closer
è Bed by 11 worked for a couple of weeks, need to try again
è Since I met the other healthy goals, I’m bumping them up to 4 healthy meals and 2 bottles of water

And one more thing. I promised Elizabeth I would continue this Blog Chain, so here is a quick look at...
1. What is the working title of your current or next book? Next book - SIMULATION
2. Where did you get the idea for that book? I’ve heard you need to keep the books coming, so I took the droids from the first novel (POP TRAVEL) and highlighted them in this one.
3. What is the genre of the book? Techno Thriller – Futuristic Sci Fi
4. If you could pick actors to play the lead characters in your story, who would you pick? How awesome would that be! Originally I chose Leonardo DiCaprio, Reese Witherspoon, and Aziz Ansari for POP TRAVEL.
5. How would you describe your book in one sentence? A scorned campaign manager creates the perfect candidate and only Cooper and Geri can expose he is really a Simulation – a clone droid.
6. How will your book be published--submitted through the traditional route to a traditional publisher, or will you be handling it yourself through indie publishing methods? Traditional! It worked the first time! Thank you, CURIOSITY QUILLS!
7. How long did it take you to write the first draft of this book? Still in the development phase, going to use the Nano format – 1 month (possibly 2)
8. What other books within your genre are similar to yours? Michael Crichton is my inspiration, the techno thriller king! I’d say a futuristic Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
9. Who or what inspired you to write this book? My nephew was so excited to read POP TRAVEL and said he would like to read more. He really got me going on this sequel.
10. What about your book will pique the reader's interest? It’s fast paced and exciting. Plus the relationship between Cooper and Geri is full of tension – will they ever get together??

Next week the chain continues with the incomparable, incorrigible Peggy Eddleman!!

The secret to fame
isn't a one hit wonder.
It's sequel success!

for Sensational Haiku Wednesday - follow

So how are your 2013 goals coming along?   And how do you feel about sequels?

You have been a busy girl, Tara.

If there's one thing we need in this business beyond talent, and that's patients. And lots of patients to book.

You're doing great, Tara! Keep the momentum going!

My goals are coming along. So far, 2013 has been a good year. :)

My 2013 goals aren't going very well at all except for the fitness goal, strangely enough.

But you are doing wonderfully. And I think you're right. I do need that book.

Well done on staying busy and motivated.

My own goals for this year are going ok. For instance: 'leave more comments on other people's blogs'.

Tick!

I like books with lots of tension. ;)

I'm going well with some of my goals and not so well with others. Such is life. Ha!

Happy Wednesday!

Congrats on goals achieved girl! Will think about the book, it sounds very informative. And one hit wonder or not just getting recognized is a piece of success.

I've read every Michael Crighton book except for the last one. I knew we had a lot in common!

Your haiku is spot on.

I am such a fan of sequels. Sometimes, I really like sequels because I haven't had enough of the characters, and sometimes it's because you can jump right in with a sequel. You already know the characters so you don't have to start from scratch, so more story.

Also, I like seeing how the characters change from book to book.

Sounds like you're definitely ahead of me on the 2013 goals. Excuse me while I try to catch up. *grin*

Love today's Haiku.

Just got that book after reading Stina's review :-)
It sounds like you've been incredibly productive - well done, even if it makes me feel guilty for having a really lazy day today!

Congrats on meeting so many of your goals! I love your haiku as always.
And congrats to Diane as well, I know I will be checking out her book. I need all the help I can get!

Congrats to Diane - again, lol, I'm seeing her everywhere today!

Have I liked your author page yet? I'll go look. There is a lot of work to being an author and you now wear many different hats, from writer to promoter. I know you're going to do well, Tara!

P.S. - loved the haiku, as usual :)

Yay for Diane and her new book. Aww, that's neat that your nephew got you excited about your work. I'm about to send mine one of my first paperbacks. Guess nephews are inspiring people in general.

Looks like you're setting up for an amazing 2013 Tara :)

I do need Diane's book! Well, sequels kind of scare me b/c it takes super organization, but teens love them. It wasn't until I made 18 Things into a trilogy and threw a paranormal twist on it that I had four editors requesting it. Let's hope it all works out *fingers crossed* Congrats on all your accomplishments--you go, girl:-)

I love sequels, except when I'm trying to write one. :)

Keep it coming!

I'm waiting till I've published something to create a Facebook author page. But I am going to feel weird about it even then, I think. I've never been all that good at promoting myself. :)

Congrats, again, Diane. And yes, Tara, all writers need to get their hands on this book!

Congrats on your goals, you must be superwoman to get so much done. :) I always get nervous when I think about book promotion - I still have so much to do before I'm even close to publishing, traditional or otherwise!

Why fewer, longer blogs? Is there a reason this is better?
