Happy Valentine's Day! To celebrate today I joined in a romantic blogfest.
I'm not big on writing romance, or much for reading it either. But I did pick up a steamy Steampunk Romance on recommendation and I've been reading it for many months. It sits in my car waiting for me to finish it while I wait for my kids at practice, or here or there. I chose an excerpt from it to share. Here is my contribution to the "It's getting hot in here" romantic blogfest from STEAMED by Katie MacAlister.
"I'm going to kiss you, Octavia Emmaline Pye."
"You may refer to me as Captain Pye, and I decline your offer," I said, a bit breathless, to be true. I wasn't normally aware of my corset, it being as much a part of me as my shoes were, but just being so close to Jack seemed to not only strip the air from my lungs but leave me with the sensation that my corset was laced several times too tight.
"Your mind says no, but your body says yes," he said, gently persistently tugging me closer to him. I swayed into him, my fingers curling into fists as I fought the damnable attraction.
"My body is confused. Pay it no mind," I said, my gaze focused on his mouth, a few inches from mine. Somehow my hands had moved from where they were trying to shove him away, to sliding around his ribs, outrageously pulling him closer to me.
"Your mouth says yes, too," he said, his lips brushing mine as he spoke.
I stared deep into those mismatched eyes, searching for a sign he was trying to deceive me, but there was nothing there but honest desire.
That's enough. A playful tease. And thanks for all the great responses to yesterday's origins blogfest. My results will go up Friday as I'm still gathering data.

Love the little tease and "I decline your offer", very nice!
NICE! I've never read that book, now I have too :)
"Honest desire." Yum.
I love her cold, exact denial just as she's letting him kiss her. :)
Darn her betraying body. That was a steamy scene.
That was a teaser! Now I think I need to go check out that book! I have a book with me at all times for the same reason--bus stop, practice, waiting, waiting, waiting. Happy Valentine's day Tara :)

Nice excerpt! Happy Valentine's Day!
Oh! What a tease you are! Love the tension there.
wow, that was a tease! :) I'm dying to know more. What sort of captain is she - flying or some outer worldly spaceship :) Great job and I'm a new follower, glad I found you! :)
Very nice choice to tease on Valentines:)
That was such a tease. It is damn hard to breath in corsets...I once dared a solider to race up three flights of steps, I was wearing a corset. He wasn't...I lost, but only barely, and then passed out. I wish I could say he ripped the corset off in a romantic fashion, but he just cut the ties.
Ooh! I ADORE Katie MacAllister! Great choice!
