Dawson: Hey, Bro. Why don’t you come up for a visit this weekend?
Cooper: I think I’m busy.
D: Right. Doing what?
C: Stuff.
D: Come on. Chelsea wants to fix you up. And this girl is poppin’!
C: Aren’t you a little old to say “poppin’?” And what does that even mean?
D: Eye poppin’ or something? I don’t know, but she’s gorgeous! You need to get out more.
C: You’re right. I’m going out right now. I have to hide behind a dumpster.
D: Oh, did the baker have some dough stolen? Ha!
C: Good one.
D: I know, sorry. But seriously, come up. The kids would love to see their Uncle Coop.
C: We’ll see.
D: That’s a yes! I’ll see you Saturday. Even if I have to pop down there and drive you myself.
C: What? No campaigning this weekend?
D: I got time off for good behavior. Don't even think about cancelling.
C: Fine. Just make sure you call first.
D: Right. See you then.

Real life haiku ~ children are adorable ~ namaste, carol (A Creative Harbor) SH ^_^
I can totally see my kids having this conversation when they're older.
Enjoyed your haiku.
Great scene developing in the dialogue excerpt.
Dawson and Cooper are so cute! Reminds me of my kids. I could go on and on.
Poppin' I'm going to be laughing about that all day!
Great haiku! Chocolate...the best stress reliever!
Ah, the conversations of kids :-)
Enjoyed the haiku.
I know what he meant by "poppin'" ; )
Nice brotherly interchange. Love the name Cooper. And I love the Haiku.
Nice Haiku, and I can really see that exchange happening between two brothers.
Tara--I love how natural this sounded. Very Cooper and Dawson :) Great job!
Oh, brothers!
Great pick and haiku, too. :D
Love the dialogue, Dawson and Cooper's banter made me laugh and I could totally hear the words in my head. Great haiku, too! :)
Two different directions for relief ... both welcomed! Nicely done!
I love that banter! Wonderful haiku as well. It's great when kids can get along.
Great sibling dynamic! I totally pictured them. (Actually, my mind went to Step-brothers for some reason, lol)
Love it!
Cooper reminds me of my own brother. ^_^
Love your tension relief.. add knitting and we could totally hang out.
Great collection of stress-relievers... I suspect that you're one of the many chocoholics. LOL!
LOL - they sound EXACTLY like brothers! Good job. And great haiku, too.
Love the brothers! So real! It's like you don't even have to try to be awesome! Not fair!
And great job on the haiku too! :)
I never had brothers of my own, but I can well imagine two brothers reacting with each other just like this!
Cute, love the brother aspect and their relationship, how they seem to read one another. Nice!
Really bright, natural sounding dialogue. Makes me wish I had a brother! Roland
Great job. I love their conversation, felt like I was really eavesdropping on someone :)
Great dialogue.
Love the Haiku. I'd love it too if my kids got along better.
Poppin'. The word reminds me of the play Chicago.
I get a good sense of vocal pattern from your writing.
Cool set up between the bros. And lovely haiku as always - with a super cute picture. :)
especially all at one time? LOL (exercising, reading, eating chocolate :)
HA! Those brothers sound like my husband and his brothers. Poppin':) Very cute!
Sibling exchange at its best :). Lovely piece of writing!

*New Follower!* So nice to *meet* you!
Nice Haikus. I am a new follower from the bloghop & I love, love, love your blog design. Interesting characters and great exchange. I have a new word, "Popping" I like it.
haha, love the lame jokes. This lil bro sounds like he means well, even if he can be a pain for Cooper at times!
Hehe. Poppin'. Love it when people use slang they don't know the meaning of and then get called up on it. Great bit of dialogue!
again, thanks for the outpouring of relating and praise!
this fest is wonderful for character development!
so glad they sound believable. i know them so well, they are to me!
i have enjoyed reading your conversational slices of life, a small piece of their life! thanks for sharing. cant wait for tomorrow =)
and fellow haiku-ists!
Just want to add my praise for your 3 choices for the different definitions of the word 'relief'.
That was fun dialogue! And awesome haiku, great weaving of emotion :)
Poppin? This guy needs a new friend! Thanks for the laugh.
OMGoodnessGracious! Guess what word I took out of my entry because I didn't think anyone would know what it meant? POPPIN'! It litters that MS but I thought I'd take it out for the contest. LOL!
I'm glad someone else uses funny slang.
And good entry BTW :) Very fun!
That was fun. I could really see them as brothers.
Poppin' haiku too, Tara! You know, I don't think I've ever in my life had a conversation where anyone used the word "poppin'"... maybe my youthful years were time shifted just enough to miss it!
Great takes on "relief". :)
Fun dialogue! And I enjoyed your haiku!
