try a little harder

So March. Yeah.
Remember in January how exciting it was to set goals for exercise and eating healthy and working on stuff? Well, I've already fallen off that wagon.
  • Why does bad food taste so good?
  • Why can't there be more hours in the day so I can "waste" some at the gym? (cause you know I choose writing stuff over exercising!) What I really need is an exercise buddy. I think that would motivate me! But all my friends and I have crazy, mismatched schedules.
  • And how do I tame my feisty personality?
with Vikki!
But I can Celebrate a couple of things:
  • I've been reading more. And this month I'm critting, which totally counts! Plus the online book club books (which I won't be doing it in April for obvious (a to z) reasons). But this month is SAVE THE CAT by Blake Snyder. It's been fabulous so far!
  • And I am writing a ton. Love new stories! And very excited to work on a query letter. Yes, I have come to enjoy them. If you need any help or advice on yours, feel free to leave me your email in the comments. I like working on them! They're quick and to the point, just my speed!
  • But what I am very happy to celebrate is I got some encouraging news from my editor! She said my grammar and punctuation looked pretty good at first glance. That is a great first step!
  • And I'd especially like to THANK YOU! all for so many positive IWSG posts (and comments) yesterday! You all really boosted my spirits!!
How are you doing with your goals? Any advice for the fallen? Maybe we can all video conference an exercise class! and then chat about writing over a smoothie after! That would be fun!

Have a Springy weekend!
(and don't forget to change your clocks, if nec!)

Great news on your manuscript!
Save the Cat is an awesome writing book.
And don't tame that feisty personality, It's what makes you YOU.

I was going to say what Alex said: I like your feisty personality. :)

Congrats on all your things to celebrate!

How about we just skip the exercising in the video conference call and just jump into the smoothie drinking. I'd be in then. :)

Feisty? Tame feisty? Egads, woman...never :-)

Three cheers for the news on your MS.

At least you are getting in lots of reading and writing. Exercise can be integrated slowly but surely - says the blogger bud who can't seem to insert a good exercise regimen for longer than 2 days into her schedule lol!!!

Bad food tastes good because... well, there's a scientific reason, but it sure as Sherlock won't make you any happier when you pass up the pizza for a salad (dressing on the side, please).

Glad you got a boosts and congrats on positive words from your editor. Just get back on the wagon Tara, bad food tastes good just to be tempting.

Yay for your Celebrations: writing, encouraging news from your editor, IWSG posts!

I need help with the exercise thing too lately - we could all do a P90X online? Actually, don't know if that would work, but it might be interesting to try. And I love smoothies - they're healthy and taste good.

Yay for your positive comments from your editor! I know what you mean about the gym. If I don't work out I get crazy!!!! All of this sedentary work we do needs a counterpoint!

Grammar and punctuation are my downfalls too, so I know I need to work on that.

As far as exercising, the worst thing you can do (besides not exercising) is beat yourself up about it. Acknowledge that you're not where you need to be and then take (small) steps to get there. It's the journey, not the destination :)

Oh, my goals are long gone. I'd like to blame the 19 credit quarter, but really I think it's just me. :)

Oooh, a clean MS is always a good thing. And yeah, I never got on the wagon this year, so can't fall off :)

I am also one of the fallen. I hope there's hope for all of us!

Great to hear that you are doing so much writing. Yay!!

Enjoy the springy weekend! :)

Congratulations on the encouragement from your editor! Grammar and punctuations are so important, yet many writers don't have as good of a grasp on it as they should.

I've had to tailor some of my goals to focus more on grad school. Hopefully I'll have more undivided writing time in the summer.

Love when the muse visits and stays! I think video conference exercise and then a smoothie sounds like fun!

"...writing a ton." Now there's a cause for celebration.

I hate writing query letters, synopsis, or any other part of the query process--other than writing the sample chapters.

Yes - why does bad food taste so good? lol
Congrats on reading (I've heard Blake's book is excellent!), critting, and writing. Yay for your editor's encouragement! Keep up the great work! :-)

I totally need to do something for exercise. I'm absolutely failing in that area. I joined loseit.com, and the fact I can earn badges has helped me eat better. Yet how long will the badge love last? You've been doing excellently. Yay for you! :) Have a great weekend.

Spring? We're forecast to get 14" of snow tomorrow! Not spring yet.. :)

Congrats on all the wins! Someday I will take you up on the query letter offer. Gotta write another book first haha

Why on earth would you want to tame your feisty spirit? It's a distinct part of who you are!
Remain true to yourself, as you always have!

Those celebrations are nothing to sneeze at! And feisty spirit? What feisty spirit?? :)

Way to go with your writing! That's a great comment from your editor - it means you kind of know what you're doing. :)

Feisty is good and you've got great things to celebrate! I have Blake's book but haven't cracked it open yet, I really need to though. My problem is not trying to add more hours in the day, it's trying to get by without sleep. Yeah, that's not working out for me so well, lol!
