Giant Problems

Welcome to the A to Z challenge Go for it!

Golly! I won GRACE AND THE GUILTLESS by Erin Johnson at Jenn Fischetto's blog! Thanks, Jenn!

And a quick PSA - Please make sure your Google + or blogger profiles are updated with links to your blog! I've tried to visit some people back and can't find you! Thanks!

A to Z Writing advice:
gatekeepers and goalies – i.e. agents
My advice regarding trying to get an agent (not that I was able to snag one, but I do respect them) and this applies to querying editors and publishers, too:
  • do your research! make sure you write in their genre, read their blogs or interviews
  • be polite, succinct, and definitely not pushy
  • expect to be rejected - send a few at a time, then occupy yourself - it's rare to find that special someone the first try (took me at least 25 or so)...

Visiting BROKEN BRANCH FALLS (MG Fantasy) Teenage fantasy creatures in high school break the rules, causing chaos. Gabe the goblin leads a quest to find the Book of Ages, hoping it can help save BROKEN BRANCH FALLS

Gabe - typical teenage goblin, marches in the band, great at math and science, and bullied daily by all the other species. But he's had enough of being typical. He rocks the foundations of the school and all beastkind.
giants - twenty to twenty-five feet tall humanoid beings, peaceful for the most part, but not very bright
Gingko High School - where goblins, pixies, elves, and ogres all learn
Ginny - Gabe's little sister, bright and spunky, and smarter than her brother.
goblins - intelligent species, all shades of green skin and hair, average height around five feet.

And for laughs:

G is for Gross
The world is their urinal.

Men never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just too icky.

I've always wondered, why is it that gas station restrooms look like something from the set of the movie "Saw"?

HavinG just returned from a trip, I can attest the restrooms in America are Generally disgustinG. :)

You're welcome, Tara. :)
And I love goblins. Even the word is just so cool.

Optimistic's comment above made me laugh out loud - so true!

And I hear you, Tara, on the Google + and blogger profile page issues.

Gabe the Goblin is too cute.

I really like your A to Z theme. It has been an interesting ride gaining this peek into your newest MG book. Just enough crumbs here and there to create interest. Kudos.

I agree about gas station bathrooms. That is a LAST RESORT. Now, some of the newer gas stations with bathrooms inside... not so bad. The older ones with the bathrooms on the outside... just drive on, folks.

I like Gabe the Goblin, he is super cute.

One of the best ways to understand the differences between men and woman are their bathrooms!

Very true about the bathroom thing!

Lots of great G words today! And yuck, yeah, to be a guy in that aspect.

Men! But wouldn't we be happy if we could do the same thing? ;P

Thanks for the agent advice. Still freaked out by that process, guess that's why I self publish. :-)

Well, I don't know about other men, but this dude wants a clean bathroom!
And yes, those who have switched to a Google+ profile, please make sure your blog is listed in your About section.

LOL. I often say that about men and my five boys. It's just not fair for my daughter and me.

Those tips about getting an agent are spot on, Tara! Rejection happens, be nice about things and be precise and professional. Thanks for sharing!

Made me laugh. Gingko High School sounds like an interesting place!

Gas station restrooms are nasty, though I've seen even nastier at some campgrounds. I can't remember the last time I had to go in the weeds or behind a rock on a long trip or while camping, due to no nearby bathroom.

Gabe the Goblin looks like a heartbreaker! Must be why those other guys beat up on him. Or maybe I'm just making up my own version of the story here. :) Love the drawings, btw.

There is actually a little invention out that can let women urinate like guys. Forgot the name but saw something for it FB a while back. Gabe looks cute and brooding. I want to know more about him, his sis and their schools. Sigh, bullies are everywhere. Can't wait for this book to be out Tara.

My son is a hockey player, and going into those boys locker rooms is horrendous. When you get close to the urinals, I want to lift my heels up and walk on my toes, eww, eww, eww. :)

Luckily he is now at the age where they kick parents (mostly moms) out of the locker room. I'd been praying for that day to come. :)
