Don't be afraid to commit

It takes courage and determination and perseverance to stay committed.
In life, relationships, and writing.

My dad told me,
If someone wants to do something, they will find a way to do it.

ie - No excuses!

So I will write my Sensational Haiku Wednesday this week and I will finish my 50,000 words for Camp Nano by Aug 31! And I will publish one of these days, too.

When negative vibes
creep in and discourage or
temptations distract,

Remember the goal,
the sweet reward that will come,
result of hard work

Commitment is pride,
dedication, conviction.
Going the distance.

Your dad was wise! If it's important to us, we find the time and the means.

This is SO true! Very few things in life are accomplished by just wanting and wishing for it. We MAKE it work.

Speaking of work, your word count shows that you are getting AWFULLY close to that 50,000 word goal! Keep it up :)

Your Dad is right. Commitment as pride - wow, somehow I forgot to think of it that way. That reinforces the concept. Love it!

Great haiku.

I used to recruit volunteer parents to help with school programs. My favorite line back then was: Those who want to help will find the time, those who don't will find the excuse. Sort of a variation on what your Dad said.

I found your blog from the GUTGAA event. I couldn't resist checking out a few blogs before the event started and following them as well.

This post inspired me big time. I really needed a boost like this, thank you!
